About Philippe Ceuppens

i'm 42 years old and i started off from early age with making electronic music, actually it all started at the age of 12 when i was learning to play the trumpet. To make it a bit easier for me to find the right tones on the trumpet, I bought a little toy keyboard a Casio PT-1 (i still have it) and that's how it all started!

It didn't take me very long to buy a second keyboard, it was also a toy, but it had a sample function which was very rare for that time, up to 2 sampled sounds could be stored in the Casio SK-5, using 1.4 second sampling, or 4 sample sounds using 0.8-seconds and loop and reverse effects could be added and an envelope could be applied to the sampled sound. I've created incredible songs with this keyboard and i will keep it forever in my heart!

About 20 years ago i bought a Roland W-30 workstation, it 's a comprehensive package combining sequencer, keyboard controller and a 12-bit sampler (up to 14.4 seconds at a 30 khz sampling frequency or 28.8 seconds at 15 khz).

That moment was actually the start of a collaboration project with a friend, Bruno Van Damme  was blown away from the W-30 and decided to buy the same keyboard and so Planchee ProductionS  was born.

In the meantime i was saving some money to buy a Roland MC-505 Groovebox, with lots of dance sounds, beats and effects., which i own now for almost 15 years. I hooked it al up to my computer and learned everything, by trial and error, about MIDI, which was necessary to use the full midi implementation that came with the 505.

Since then i'm busy expanding my equipment, recently Roland came out with the Aira series and these were so appealing to me that i've bought most of the aira series, it's very 'live performance' oriented.

So for the moment I'm working on some demo songs and i've put very recently some live recorded jams online on my facebook page and on my Youtube channel.

I hope to put some finished tracks online very soon and i'm always looking for collaboration with all sorts of  musicians, PM if you are interested!
